CERTIFICATION & CAREER
-
Yes. OMA's certification demonstrates professional-level mastery in makeup artistry and is recognized throughout the beauty industry. Our graduates have gone on to work with brands like Sephora, MAC, and Ulta Beauty, launched successful freelance businesses, and secured positions in bridal, editorial, film, and fashion. Your portfolio, which you build throughout the program, combined with your OMACA certificate gives employers and clients confidence in your training. Many graduates begin earning income as makeup artists within weeks of completing their certification.
-
Yes. OMA certifications are respected across the makeup and beauty industry. Our accredited programs (Accreditation No. AC7456), expert NYC-based instructors, and comprehensive curriculum have earned recognition among employers, beauty brands, and working professionals. Graduates receive pro discount cards from Frends Beauty and Nigel's Beauty Emporium, giving them access to professional-grade products at up to 40% off.

A makeup artist certificate (OMACA) demonstrates specialized training in professional makeup application. A cosmetology license is a state-issued credential that typically requires 1,000-1,600 hours of training covering hair, nails, skincare, and basic makeup. Most states do not require a cosmetology license to work as a freelance makeup artist. Our licensing guide explains requirements state by state: Do You Need a License to Be a Makeup Artist?
-
Makeup artist earnings vary widely based on specialization, location, and experience. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, makeup artists in the US earn a median hourly wage of approximately $31 per hour, with top earners making over $90 per hour. Many OMA graduates work freelance and set their own rates, with bridal makeup artists typically charging $150-$500+ per client. Learn more: How Much Do Makeup Artists Make?
