Today we would like to introduce you to our graduate Ally. We want to pay great attention to her professional website, which is a great example of the culmination of the course and provides you with an integral platform to kickstart your career.

Ally has graduated from our Elite Career Path course. Before the course she worked alongside her sister for makeup, but pursued her professional education to get certified. As she says,  she grew up loving makeup and started playing around with it at an early age, but it wasn’t until after college that she discovered a true passion for creating makeup looks. She started to pursue freelance makeup artistry & fell in love with helping brides look and feel their best on such an important day. Now, she is certified in both master makeup artistry & advanced techniques and has been doing makeup for weddings + events alongside her sister/co-artist Emily for four years now.

Be sure to visit her website - we think this is a great example of what a makeup artist's website should be - her branding is cohesive, clean, and the easy to navigate layout allows her work to really shine. Clients can easily locate (and be inspired by!) her work, know her services and pricing, and learn more about this talented team: styleddarling.com.

The competition among makeup artists, especially in big cities, is quite high, but not everyone has their own website - a huge marketing tool that is a missed opportunity in sharing with the world your business and brand. Some makeup artists feel that social media is the only requirement; while social media is also an important aspect - it is integral to take as much care in your professional website as you do on your social media accounts, they go hand in hand in building a strong business. Having your own website increases the loyalty of potential customers and gives the makeup artist a significant competitive advantage.

One of the most important pages on the website of a makeup artist, cosmetologist and any other professional in their field is the portfolio. It is necessary to use high-quality professional photographs of works on which makeup is clearly visible. The website should present a portfolio of professional makeup artists and should sell their services (only ever include images of your own work, and think about investing in your images to create quality content - collaboration with a photographer and other like minded artists is an investment in your future). As we can see from the example of Ally’s website, she has incorporated stunning imagery of her real life work to create a "Portfolio" section with photographs of works, a section with biographies of makeup artists, as well as separate pages with prices and contacts. A beautiful picture is truly worth a thousand words and demonstrates your skills better, so it is very important to display good quality photos. Keep in mind, your portfolio should always remain current and updated - it should only show a selection of your best work, less is more!

It is better to stick to minimalism in website design so as not to distract attention from the photos of the makeup artist's work. It is better to use a light background, such as white or beige.

In order for the client to immediately understand what services you provide and keep their attention, the main services and their brief description, your advantages and examples of your work should be posted on the main page of the website. You can also add a section with customer reviews, which confirms that your services are in demand and real people contact you.

An important element, which a makeup artist can add to simplify their contact process, is the online registration form for clients.

As part of our curriculum, it is required to create your website and our instructors can guide you with feedback so you are fully set once you graduate to start your business! We highly recommend taking this opportunity seriously to create a high-quality selling website that will help you start or continue your career as a makeup artist. In addition to how to create your own website, here we teach you how to work in social networks, what social media marketing is, where to look for work, how to launch your YouTube channel, a page on professional platforms for makeup artists, and so on. Therefore, by choosing courses at the Online Makeup Academy, you not only gain knowledge and skills in the field of practical makeup application, but also a lot of valuable information on how to start your successful business.

Keep up the inspiring work, Ally, we are proud to have you as our graduate!
